Tired of the neutral shades of beige (no, not Shades of Grey!) that have been donning your nails? Looking for a fresh new take on the classic french manicure? No one wants to go into the upcoming fall season feeling like their manicure is in serious need of some updating. To beat that feeling and get out of the slump, why not try out some of these sexy, fun styles that have been swarming the runways for fall 2012!

French Twist

You can't deny that a French manicure maintains a level of class that cannot be rivalled. However, if you're tired of the traditional white and nude, why not spice it up by donning a coloured tip with a clear top?! This fun take was seen on the runway by the likes of Donna Karan (pictured above), Thakoon, Joy Cioci and Behnaz Serafpour. Application remains the same as the traditional, making it an easy D.I.Y. project to attempt before your next night out. Still too tame for you? Try using a coloured base with a dark tip for even more edge!

Ombré Neutrals

All last year we were constantly hearing about Ombré this and Ombré that: from hair, to nails, to beautiful gradient patterned silk dresses. The only problem? Almost all of these Ombré looks are a dark to light look! Into the fall we're thinking to try the opposite by getting some extra use out of all our neutrals from last season. Our thoughts were echoed by the runway stylists for Christian Cota (pictured) and Jen Kao. Opt for a peachy tone to a light beige or a light pink to cream. It also doesn't hurt that these pretty, fresh colours keep the summer weather in our mind as we head into cooler weather!

Minx Nails

This trend is my new obsession! The realistic look of the polish makes your nails look like they've been dipped right into a pot of molten metal. The only problem? This is one of those trends that you can only indulge in at the salon. Not many stylists have been trained in this method yet so you may have to wait till your next New York or L.A. trip to give this one a shot. There are many different designers featuring this trend on their runways this fall. Missoni (pictured above) opted for a multi-tone diagonal stripe effect whereas Alexander McQueen went for the solid gold. My personal favourite? The solid chrome that turns heads everywhere you go and pairs perfectly with any outfit.

Once you've got your favourite style locked down, drop by the store so we can pair it with the perfect outfit for fall :)
