Stripes are a huge craze for Spring. In runway shows such as Prada, Junya Watanabe, Marc by Marc Jacobs and more, stripes are seen as one of the top trends.

Originally, stripes were the pattern relegated to social misfits, such as jugglers, prison convicts, and ruffians. Even in medieval paintings, Lucifer is often depicted wearing stripes.

It was Coco Chanel that changed everything. Legend has it, the fashion designer borrowed a blue and white, thinly striped sweater - The Breton, established in 1858 by the French Navy- from her lover, and tailored it to her body. A durable fashion staple was born.

Work this trend into your wardrobe with striped pieces from Sweet Chemise, Line Knitwear, Ella Moss and Splendid!
